Mixed Ideaz is a workshop in Cape Town, South Africa where artists and craftsmen come together bringing skills, working together and sharing ideas.
The name 'Mixed Ideaz' describes the fusion of minds producing an artwork. Gora Dombuleni is one of the co-founders of the Mixed Ideas project. 'We believe strongly in recycling because it saves money and the earth for future generations. What we do is combine our talents to make something out of nothing. Creating employment out of scrap, as we are committed to helping unemployed people.
In their specifically urban brand of recycled art, Mixed Ideas are one of few independent groups of artists to become a business. Godfrey realized that if they could make a centre for street artists to meet and create together, they would pool lots of ideas and produce lots of work. They saved the money, to pay the deposit on the workshop premises rather than pay themselves. “Now we are the only 24 hour opening craft shop in the world. It never closes. Someone is always there”.
They choose their team by their talent. People come to visit and get committed.
