My name is George Makubela and my home place is Kwandebele in Mpuimalanga. I started to make wire and recycling in 1995 when both my parents were involved in a car accident, so there was no one to support us through school and put food on the table. So I was introduced to a guy who was making wire work and I found that I enjoyed this work. From there I started to be able to support my brothers and sisters through schooling. Then in 1999 I came to Cape Town to avoid competition in my area. I got married in 2003. I have two kids, boy and girl. This work is providing me with school fees and food for my kids.
